TITLE: "Chayanne Fans For Nancy Benefit Auction A Big Success"
The bids are in, the tallies have been counted and
fans of Latin superstar Chayanne can "pat themselves on the back."
The bidding totaled $6,282 toward the mounting medical bills of
10-month old Nancy Ramos Esquivel. She is a Mexican baby who recently
received a liver transplant (donated by the family of a boy who
lost his life) and is currently clinging to life in Miami, FL. Chayanne
Fans For Nancy Benefit Auction was held March 14 - 22, on the Internet.
This charity event on eBay offered 211 Chayanne collectable items;
magazines, CDs, videos and T-shirts, donated by fans from around
the globe to be auctioned off.
The most coveted item of all was a personal phone
call from Chayanne, 32, the singer/dancer/actor who is making such
a gigantic splash on the world's entertainment scene today. Two
fans bid the highest (almost to the penny), an amazing $1,320, so
Chayanne has graciously agreed to take time out from his busy schedule
to make two fan-calls. Patricia, the first winner said, "I can't
believe it...I hope I am able to speak when I hear his voice on
the other end of the phone...Dreams do come true!"
The auction was created when the handsome Puerto
Rican star asked his fans to actively help raise the $200,000 necessary
for the transplant surgery after meeting her mother and seeing the
baby in Jackson Memorial Hospital where his son was briefly hospitalized.
Chayanne first told the public about Nancy while accepting a special
"Jovenes con Legado" ("Youthful Legacy") award during the Premios
Lo Nuestro ("Our Awards") show recently in Miami, sponsored by Univision
(a popular Spanish TV network). The large 4,600-strong crowd roared
to its collective feet to welcome him after viewing a filmed documentary
about his life, career and the positive role model he presents to
the world. Instead of concentrating on himself in his speech, Chayanne
modestly dedicated his award to baby Nancy.
Presently Chayanne is riding a great wave of popularity,
not only for his recent appearance on the TV hit Ally McBeal, but
because his latest hit single Yo Te Amo and album Simplemente (Sony
Discos) have been on the top of the Latin pop billboard charts for
the past five months. He is currently in Buenos Aires preparing
to start filming on a new telenovela (prime time series/soap opera)
there titled "Blood Ties,"(the tittle to the soap opera is not confirmed
yet) to be shown in at least 25 countries including the US. After
his pleas for help went out, fans from the three major Internet
fan clubs who support him, Cafe Chayanne, Chayfans.org, and La Isla
Chayanne, banded together in a cooperative effort to help kick off
a fundraising campaign with the charity auction, calling themselves
the Chayanne Fans For Nancy Committee. "I have the greatest fans
in the world," he said recently on the Netmio Music channel." "They
have united to help this great cause and I want to thank them personally
for all their support."

La subasta a beneficio de las Fans de Chayanne por

de caridad en eBay ofreció 211 artículos coleccionables de Chayanne:
revistas, Cds, videos y camisetas, donados por fans de todo el globo
para ser subastados. El artículo más codiciado fue una llamada telefónica
personal de Chayanne, de 32 años, el cantante/bailarín/actor que
hoy está haciendo una irrupción gigantezca en el mundo del espectáculo.
Dos fans ofertaron lo más alto (casi iguales por centavos), un espectacular
$1,320, así que Chayanne ha accedido generosamente a tomar un poco

fans. Patricia, la primera ganadora dijo:"No puedo creerlo... Espero

estrella portorriqueño le pidió a sus fans ayudarlo activamente
a reunir los $200,000 necesarios para la cirugía del transplante,
después de conocer a su madre y de ver a la beba en el hospital
Jackson Memorial, donde su hijo estuvo brevemente hospitalizado.
Chayanne por primera vez le dijo al público sobre Nancy cuando aceptó
el premio especial ¨Jóvenes con Legado¨ durante los Premios Lo Nuestro,
recientemente en Miami, apadrinados por Univisión (una popular cadena
de TV en español). La gran multitud de 4600 personas se pusieron
