DON FRANCISCO: “Chayanne’s new production! Chayanne, how are you. Thank you for accompanying us in this program where we have many surprises planned.
I know you’ve been graceful enough to agree to participate in one of our games, thus allowing members of our audience to win some prizes by answering questions about your life.”

-DON FRANCISCO HAS TO STOP TALKING FOR A MOMENT BECAUSE HIS VOICE IS ALMOST INAUDIBLE SINCE THE AUDIENCE IS LOUDLY DEMANDING ANOTHER SONG FROM CHAYANNE-

DON FRANCISCO: “Besides, we’ll talk a little about this new production of yours. So, let’s give Chayanne a big applause for being here with us.”

CHAYANNE TAKES A SEAT NEXT TO DON FRANCISCO’S DESK-

DON FRANCISCO: “I know you have a very private and quiet personal life.”
CHAYANNE: “Very private, Don Francisco.”
DON FRANCISCO: “I know you have several siblings. How many siblings do you have?”
CHAYANNE: “I have three brothers and one sister. There are five of us.”
DON FRANCISCO: “And your parents live in Puerto Rico.”
CHAYANNE: “My parents live in Puerto Rico. I’d like to send a kiss to my mother, who’s watching right now. ‘Mami, hello.”
DON FRANCISCO: “She watches SABADO GIGANTE?”
CHAYANNE: “She watches SABADO GIGANTE and she told me to say hello to her. So, there, I just did. I have a very beautiful family.”
DON FRANCISCO: “You’ve been able to maintain -something that is very difficult in a career like yours- you have been able to maintain your personal life, as private as possible.”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, but it’s been….it’s been a natural procession, it wasn’t that I sought to do this. I don’t do it to seek publicity or to be mentioned in the newspapers; I do it because I really want to do it and because they have wanted it that way. To not be on display, so that if they go to the supermarket, to the park, they want to have the freedom to do so. Also, I do it for protection, to protect one’s own.”
DON FRANCISCO: “How do you feel as a father? It’s a new experience for you. I’m a father many times over and a grandfather many times more. How do you feel as a father?”
CHAYANNE: “I feel extremely well. I didn’t know how very beautiful it would be. I didn’t know how much love my father and mother have for me. And one doesn’t really learn that until you have a child of your own. One doesn’t know that our parents would give their life for us, until one has a child.”
DON FRANCISCO: “That’s true.”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, because it’s a love that overflows and you don’t think twice about things, you do everything for their own good. Sometimes one makes mistakes but it’s always out of love.”
DON FRANCISCO: “And speaking of love, did you fall in love many times?”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, yes, I fell in love….well, I don’t know if it was love, but I knew I like them.”
DON FRANCISCO: “At what age did you feel something that made you think, ‘something is happening to me that I’ve never experienced before.”
CHAYANNE: “Something is happening that I’ve never experienced before?”
DON FRANCISCO: “In other words, that you fell in love.”
CHAYANNE: “Eh….I always felt love, since I was very young, when I was ten or eleven, you’d fall in love, specially with the older ones.”
DON FRANCISCO: “With older girls?”
CHAYANNE: “With older girls. They would give you more affection….older girls.”

-CHAYANNE AND THE AUDIENCE LAUGH-

DON FRANCISCO: “Have you suffered for love? Have you cried for love?”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, yes, I’ve cried for love. I’ve suffered for love.”
DON FRANCISCO: “You have?”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, but that’s why…..”

-THE AUDIENCE CAN BE HEARD SYMPATHIZING WITH HIM. DON FRANCISCO ECHOS THE AUDIENCE REACTION-

DON FRANCISCO: “Ahhh! Poor thing!”
CHAYANNE: “Ahhh! No, but that is also beautiful….to suffer for love. You must fight for love; you must search for love. Sometimes you succeed, other times….well, it wasn’t meant for you. But, yes, you suffer. For instance, in my case, being absent, not being able to be there with them all the time although you’d like to be, but you can’t.”
DON FRANCISCO: “How did you decide and said, “this is the woman who’ll be my wife, the mother of my children. What did you find in that woman that helped you make the decision?”
CHAYANNE: “One doesn’t know. One is led by…..by the heart….by common sense, by life itself. One doesn’t know that person will be the one.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Listen, I’d like to introduce to you someone from México, who is a specialist, a doctor who specializes in love chemistry. Her name is Gitelle Cherninski. Let’s give her a nice welcome.”

-DON FRANCISCO AND CHAYANNE STAND UP TO GREET DR. CHERNINSKI. SHE WALKS ONSTAGE AND SHAKES CHAYANNE’S HAND AND KISSES HIM ON THE CHEEK-

CHAYANNE: “Hello.”
GITELLE: “Hello.”
DON FRANCISCO: “How are you? Have a seat, please. Chayanne is here with us and he will sing for us once again in a little while,* but for now, Gitelle, he mentioned that he fell in love for the first time when he was very young. Do we fall in love many times in life?”
GITELLE: “We fall in love many times; that’s correct, Don Francisco.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Does that mean that we are not monogamous?”
GITELLE: “We are not monogamous.
DON FRANCISCO: “No?”
GITELLE: “In fact, the bible speaks of polygamy. In modern times, we began to be monogamous as a way of having control in society.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Chayanne, at any given time, did you see a woman and immediately sensed that you felt something special for her? You saw her and without knowing her, felt attracted to her?”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, without really knowing her, Don Francisco. There’s chemistry and some attraction. There’s something there you might like. Something that attracts you and gets your attention, I believe. I mean, it’s happened to me.”
DON FRANCISCO: “How does the chemistry work, Gitelle?
GITELLE: “Mario,** and Chayanne, the way this chemistry works -that’s why I mentioned we fall in love many times- although that infatuation hits us at such level, that it then turns into real love. The chemistry begins through the breath, the scent, through what we visualize, the voice; and all this generates a chemistry that no one can contain.”
DON FRANCISCO: “It has happened to me….when from afar, I see a person and I say to myself, ‘my goodness, I feel very attracted to that woman.’ And I’ll tell you something else, I’m heterosexual but….”

-CHAYANNE AND GITELLE LAUGH-

DON FRANCISCO: “…..but it has also happened that I see a man and I say, ‘this man looks interesting.”
GITELLE: “Attractive. Of course.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Not in the same way a woman attracts me but there’s some type of chemistry; not love, but there’s chemistry between two people.”
GITELLE: “That is a the chemistry of attraction. But when there is chemistry from love or infatuation…..the first phase is infatuation, then comes real love, and that’s when we get together as a couple, and we want to be with that mate forever, or at least, we try to be. Infatuation is when I find myself attracted to a person and I see, smell, touch, and savor that person in some way……and I say this without implying anything tremendous….”

-CHAYANNE AND THE AUDIENCE LAUGH-

GITELLE: “……I can savor on my own, like when I think of a of lemon, and I relish the image…..that happens to all of us. Therefore, infatuation is, that I see in you something I don’t see in myself, and you see in me, something you don’t see in yourself. That’s infatuation. It’s like a giant screen where I load a series of positive ideas and then I see how you laugh and I love it; I see how you dance and I love it. That’s infatuation. After two years, Don Francisco, that this infatuation has produced a chemistry so strong that I can’t stand being without this person –although he may not be my ideal mate- the chemistry decreases, it lessens a little because we absorb it in our system and those chemicals diminish a little. And then we enter a phase that I describe as the three D’s. It’s like a precipice…..or like a hole. The three D’s are: disenchantment, disillusion and falling out of love.* This comes after infatuation and after the chemistry has decreased. And we move on the important phase that is love. When I remove those positive images of you and I see what you are truly like, and you see what I’m truly like, and we love each other that way. It is then that I don’t need your smell as much; I don’t need to hear your voice as much; you are already in my heart. That is love.”
DON FRANCISCO: “I’ve been married 38 years and you, Chayanne have been married, how long?”
CHAYANNE: “I’ve been married a few years; not 38, but a few years.”
DON FRANCISCO: “A few years. And, have you experienced what the doctor just mentioned?”
CHAYANNE: “Eh….it’s much….it’s already beyond those three D’s the doctor mentioned. You begin to love from the heart; you begin to protect….you want to protect, and that’s where we are at. Don Francisco, that’s where we are at!”
DON FRANCISCO: “ Well, let’s have a nice applause for Chayanne. He will be singing for us again soon. Gitelle, I’d like to ask you to stay with us because I’d like to discuss the love between people and their pets; it seems extraordinary, but it really isn’t.”
GITELLE: “Mario, excellent.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Let’s go to a commercial break"

DON FRANCISCO: “Do you want to know why there is so much commotion in the studio? Because Chayanne is here with us and is ready to play with the audience.”

-THE AUDIENCE IS WILDLY SHOUTING AND APPLAUDING. CHAYANNE SMILES AND WAVES AND BLOWS A KISS IN THEIR DIRECTION-

DON FRANCISCO: “There are $1,500 at stake. Listen, Chayanne, during the commercial break, I don’t know if you were able to hear, one girl shouted, ‘Chayanne, chew me like bubble gum.’ What would you like to tell this girl?”
CHAYANNE: “Let me have the bubble gum.”

-THE AUDIENCE GOES CRAZY-

DON FRANCISCO: “She’s sitting over there.”

-DON FRANCISCO THEN APPROACHES ONE YOUNG GIRL IN THE AUDIENCE AND ASKS HER TO STAND UP-

DON FRANCISCO: “Tatiana, what would you like to ask Chayanne. I see you are looking at him in a desperate sort of way. It seems you got a little nervous when you saw him.”
TATIANA: “I don’t know.”

-SHE’S EXTREMELY EMBARRASSED. SHE LOWERS HER GAZE AND REFUSES TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS-

DON FRANCISCO: “Nothing? You don’t want to ask him anything? Well, let’s do this then…..

-THE GIRLS SITS DOWN AND DON FRANCISCO MOVES ON-

DON FRANCISCO: “Some people from the audience will be able to win $1,500. Who would like to participate?”

-THE AUDIENCE REACTION IS TO BE EXPECTED. THERE ARE RAISED HANDS EVERYWHERE. DON FRANCISCO APPROACHES ANOTHER YOUNG LADY-

DON FRANCISCO: “Ana. We have Ana, right here. Ana, you need to match your answers with Chayanne’s answers. I’ll ask the questions, Chayanne will input his answers in the system first. If your answer matches his, you win. For every correct answer, you’ll receive $200. If you answer correctly the five questions, you’ll receive $1000, but, you’ll also get an additional bonus of $500 for answering all the questions correctly. Are you a Chayanne fan?”
ANA: “Since forever.”
DON FRANCISCO: “How does it feel to have him there so close.”
ANA: “My heart wants to come out.”

CHAYANNE: “Don Francisco, that was between 1979-80 and 1983.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Did you enjoy being in the group? Was it a good experience for you?”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, it was a nice experience for me and it helped me of course, to arrive where I am today. The beginning is always beautiful.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Let go to some images. This is the movie in which Chayanne shared the credits with the former Miss Universe from Puerto Rico, Dayanara Torres.”

DON FRANCISCO: “The question then, is it true the title of movie is Linda Sara?”

DON FRANCISCO: “Jacobo Morales. You made a movie also when you were part of Los Chicos.”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, I made my first movie when I was 12 years-old, it was called Caribbean Connection.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Caribbean Connection. Well, let’s see how you do. If you make a mistake, we stop right here. Is it true that Chayanne is in the process of opening a restaurant of Puerto Rican cuisine in Miami Beach? Chayanne, your anwer, please.”
YOUNG WOMAN: “Yes.”

DON FRANCISCO: “No!”

DON FRANCISCO: “The last one. The last one. All right, you, stand up. This young woman is very anxious. I shouldn’t really be doing this because the rules prohibit I do this, but we’ll continue. Let’s see….is it true that Chayanne was discovered while his sister was auditioning for certain producers?”
YOUNG GIRL: “Yes.”

-CHAYANNE SEEMS RELIEVED THAT SHE GOT THE ANSWER RIGHT-

DON FRANCISCO: “What does your sister do?”
CHAYANNE: “My sister sings very beautifully. They went to her so she could audition for a music group they were putting together but then the concept of the group changed to include boys between the ages of 10 and 11, and I was there, so I went from being a chaperone to be part of the group.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Very good. Then, let’s see….for $400. We see Chayanne here with the Mexican singer and actress Yuri, in a 1995 telenovela. Is it true the telenovela was called Fuentes de Amor (Love Fountain)?”

DON FRANCISCO: “Neither one of you has done another telenovela since then.”
CHAYANNE: “No, I haven’t done another telenovela. I’ve had offers, but I haven’t done any more.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Do you like doing telenovelas?”
CHAYANNE: “I do like them, I do, especially when there is a good a project with people really supporting it, because a great atmosphere is created among everybody.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Here’s the question. Is it true that Chayanne was born in New York and that his father is from the Dominican Republic and his mother from Puerto Rico?”
YOUNG GIRL: “No.”
DON FRANCISCO: “You’re 100% Puerto Rican?”
CHAYANNE: “I’m Puerto Rican from top to bottom!”
DON FRANCISCO: “From what part of Puerto Rico?”
CHAYANNE: “I’m from San Lorenzo.”
DON FRANCISCO: “She already has $600. She’s almost there. For $800, here are some images from the movie Dance With Me that starred Chayanne and the actress Vanessa Williams. Is it true that in that movie Chayanne’s character was Cuban?”

DON FRANCISCO: “Chayanne, the audience is dying to ask you some questions. Someone just asked if your parents are architects. Are you parents architects?”
CHAYANNE: “No, not at all. My mother was a teacher and my father a supervisor, not an architect.”

-THE CAMERA PANS ON A YOUNG WOMAN WHO’S NERVOUSLY WAITING FOR CHAYANNE’S ANSWER. HE LOOKS TOWARDS THE AUDIENCE AND LAUGHS-

CHAYANNE: “I knew the question was coming with a curve!”
DON FRANCISCO: “Do you know something I don’t know?”
CHAYANNE: “No, I just looked into her eyes and I knew?”
DON FRANCISCO: “Oh! She asked if you’re parents were architects because they made you so well! How stupid I am! I’m so dense!
CHAYANNE: “No, my goodness!”
DON FRANCISCO: “You just completed a tour through Spain. How did it turn out?”
CHAYANNE: “Extremely well. I’ve had great success in Spain with the tour and with the release of the new album. And I’m very pleased with the way I’ve been welcomed by the people.”
DON FRANCISCO: “How does it feel when you go to a place you’ve never been and say, “I’m going to win over this people.” They don’t know you and you have to start from the beginning…..”
CHAYANNE: “Yes. It’s a challenge. It comes with the job. When you decide to launch your career as a soloist, you face many situations you’ve never encountered before. I spent a lot of time on promotional tours throughout Latin America, in Chile, your country, where I’ve been very well received; I’ve spent less time in Argentina, I’d say it’s been only about three of four years……”
DON FRANCISCO: “And by the way, I’d like to invite you once again to participate in our telethon in Chile, that’s being held on December 1st and 2nd.”
CHAYANNE: “It would be my pleasure…..”
DON FRANCISCO: “We’ll love to have you there in the national auditorium, receiving the applause of the entire Chilean public once again.”
CHAYANNE: “Thank you very much, Don Francisco. If I find myself in Chile, it’ll be my pleasure to be there, because life has given me much and that is one of the ways that one can give back in appreciation for all the affection the public has given you, and to be grateful for one’s health. But, it’s worked great for me. That’s what I’m doing with the new album, facing new challenges because now I’ll be traveling to Turkey and I’ll be traveling to other new countries……one is nervous and a few doubts exist but you always hope everything turns out well.”
DON FRANCISCO: “And you fight, you fight and start at the bottom…..look, here you are singing in…..in Italy. You were very successful there, right?”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, we were in Italy….at a festival and…..look at the hosts of the program…..they wanted me to dance and I’m always willing to do it…..”

CHAYANNE: “This was our beginning in Italy and we’ve been very well received, as well as in France and several other places where we have been promoting this album and we hope it turns out well and continues.”
DON FRANCISCO: “This is your eighth album, correct?”
CHAYANNE: “This is the eighth album with Sony.”
DON FRANCISCO: “And it’s titled “Simplemente.”
CHAYANNE: “Simplemente is the title of the album.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Why that title and what material does it include?”
CHAYANNE: “I consider ‘Simplemente’ to be a very strong word. It’s Chayanne’s style. What you’ll find in the album is simply Chayanne and the musical style is supported by pop and my influences which is the Caribbean and the sound involves the romantic ballads and some pieces with a lot of rhythm like the song “Ay Mamá’ and many others. This is my best album. I always say my last album is the best, but in this case, this is the best album in my career.”
DON FRANCISCO: “It includes a duet with Rubén Blades.”
CHAYANNE: “Yes, it includes a duet with Rubén Blades.”
DON FRANCISCO: “And it includes themes from Estéfano.”
CHAYANNE: “It includes themes from Estéfano, from Donato, from Victor Manuel. I’ve had many wonderful experiences, like working with Rubén Blades, whom I’ve admired my entire life. I remember putting coins in the jukebox to listen to his songs, like Pedro Navaja and the rest of his songs; and it’s been a pleasure working with him and with everyone else involved in the album.”
DON FRANCISCO: “We have over there our model Rachelle, who has a little cold and has been receiving a little tender, loving care. She has someone from the audience with her.”
RACHELLE: “That’s correct. Judy, what would you like to ask
Chayanne.”
JUDY: “Yes, first of all, I’d like to congratulate him in all his success, congratulations to him and his family…..”
CHAYANNE: “Thank you. Thank you very much.”
JUDY: “Being the much loved artist that you are, I’d like to know if there are any plans to make a telenovela, or a music video or another movie in Hollywood.”
CHAYANNE: “I’ve had some offers to do telenovelas. At the moment, we’re considering the time frame to see if I’ll be able to work in one. And regarding the music video, I just did a video for the song “Yó Te Amo,” which is the song we are currently promoting. We filmed this video in Los Angeles.”
DON FRANCISCO: “And this one about BOOM BOOM?”
CHAYANNE: “This video for BOOM BOOM…..we taped it in the desert in the Los Angeles area. We did it with the company CLP, which is a French company. We filmed it in the desert, in a dried lake; it was very beautiful. But it was done under very hot weather; it was 110 degrees. Our feet were burning from the heat. That’s something that people don’t see. In those scenes, we were sweating profusely. We had to stop after each take to compose ourselves and then continue recording.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Were you satisfied with the video?”
CHAYANNE: “Very satisfied.”
DON FRANCISCO: “Well, now you’ll perform ‘BOOM BOOM.”
CHAYANNE: “BOOM BOOM.”
DON FRANCISCO” “A big applause for Chayanne once again, and now, BOOM BOOM.”

ADAL: "I don't like it when you come to México, because when you're here, my girlfriend never pays

CHAYANNE: No, it depends. Sometimes after the concert there's some type of event going on. Maybe a meeting with the company representatives, if I don't have another show. If I have another show, I try to rest, because with the type of show I have, where there's a lot of movement, I have to take care of myself.
ADAL: You consume a lot of physical energy.
CHAYANNE: I spend a lot of energy! That's another thing, when I'm doing a promotion and I haven't really done a lot of conditioning and I'm doing a song that requires a lot of movement, I have to be very careful with
the muscles because it has happened that I've hurt myself. So I try to stretch and keep in form and when I'm
done with my activities, I then go to the hotel and rest.

ADAL: What I often think about is……at one point in my life, my younger brother, Manuel Jesús, -to whom,
by the way, I'd like to say hello and also to his wife Sylvia- he put together a rock band and he told me I was
to be the lead singer. I would then sing a song, and after that one song, I had no voice left! We were a group
of two songs only because that's as far as I went. By the third song, I was down to sign language! No, but
really, it would always amaze me and I'd realized all the care that singers must have to protect their vocal
chords. The throat is obviously your instrument!
CHAYANNE: It is your instrument! And you have to take care of it and do your exercises and in my case, where I dance while singing, I have to learn how to control the intakes of air. The height here in México City requires you to change the rhythm of the show. Sometimes you have to let the dancers move more; you have
to know how to deal with the different conditions that affect the show. For example, when I have a cold, I sometimes have to cancel the show. Right now, I'm just getting over the flu.
ADAL: You caught it in Seville!
CHAYANNE: I caught it Seville. I was doing the Gala de la Hispanidad en Seville and I got sick. The long
flights that take anywhere from 8 to 15 hours and you catch that cold inside the plane.
ADAL: You're in the airplane and say: "Miss, please, tell the captain to lower the temperature is too cold in here!" But they don't listen to you!
CHAYANNE: No, they don't, you just have to dress warmly. But you have fun. It's very entertaining. You
have to make a lot of sacrifices but, well, here I am in this career, in which I've spent quite a few years.
ADAL: Has it been your experience, what happens to other singers; I don't know if it's happened to you, that's why I'm asking, where they go: "My voice! My voice, it's gone and the concert is tomorrow! I need a doctor,
I need a shot!" And suddenly, the nerves are so big, that your throat has closed down….
CHAYANNE: Or that you can't sleep all night due to nervousness, a lot of times! But, no, you try to take care
of yourself. Always listen to what your mother and your grandmother tell you. Take lemon and honey, or you have the doctor check you. You try to take care but things do happen sometimes, but you continue.
ADAL: And you obviously must go on. People have paid for their tickets and….
CHAYANNE: And there's the adrenaline. There comes a point when you're tired or cold, but the adrenaline
that the audience itself gives you with their applause, when they sing with you, because I don't know if you
know this, but it really helps you a lot when they sing with you!
ADAL: You're out of breath and point the microphone towards them and say: "How does it go?" And you go: "Please, let them keep on singing."

ADAL: And they say: "I might as well get back half of what I paid for the concert! I sang through most of the show!"

CHAYANNE: I would….I would….
ADAL: What would you play?
CHAYANNE: I'd play….I'd play percussion! I'd play a little…..

CHAYANNE: Michael Jackson who was a monster, a monster! Well, he still is! And, that's been my
schooling. I've worked with a lot of choreographers that Michael Jackson has worked with. Bill Patterson….
I've joined forces with a lot of talented people who have helped me to grow, to develop my own style. And nowadays, for example, when I'm working on choreography, they bring me steps that are out
there, on the
street and we take those steps and we polish them and adapt them to my style. Some steps I change
and
others I create.
ADAL: What you mean by steps from the street, you are talking about…..
CHAYANNE: What's out there on the streets. You pay attention….not me, personally, because I'm at work, but the choreographer…..
ADAL: People are on the look out for you.
CHAYANNE: Exactly! The choreographer goes out there and brings me what's in style at the moment. That's why….
ADAL: You change a thing or two!
CHAYANNE: You change some things. There are some dances where you move your hands a certain way….there is some choreography that lends itself to changes and you're able to take certain liberties and there are others where you must be exact.
ADAL: Where you look at the video and you and you say, "do it over," when a certain dancer is not working
out because it has to be exact.

CHAYANNE: Yes, and also the way the body looks in a camera shot and the way it looks in a live show can
be completely different, so you try to make the adjustments. But, it's very time consuming, and besides the time you spend taping the video, there are also the eight hours of rehearsals you need before you begin taping.
ADAL: Eight hours?
CHAYANNE: Eight hours!
ADAL: You need to rehearse for eight hours to put together the steps of…..
CHAYANNE: One minute of tape!
ADAL: Eight hours that you spend rehearsing for every shot of a song…
CHAYANNE: For example, one of the songs, this song that I'm going to perform, AY MAMA, we spent five days on it, and it just involves normal steps. In this album, SIMPLEMENTE, this song has
the tropical sound,
so I always lean more towards using the regular Caribbean rhythms like the salsa and merengue, so I have
more freedom in steps in this song than I do with a song like BOOM BOOM, that requires more mechanical, more exact steps. And I try to do that so that in a show where I perform twenty songs, the audience can see
the difference between the various themes performed.
ADAL: Someone who dances the way you do, when the girls saw you and went crazy, back then when you were young and you weren't as well recognized as you are now, did you take advantage of those great moves
to get girls?
CHAYANNE: At eight or nine years old? No, it's not that I used to take advantage. I enjoyed it. I danced
salsa and merengue back then. In those days, I didn't have the foundations of what I do now on stage.
If I go some place with some friends, I don't dance. I just watch people dance.
ADAL: You don't dance?
CHAYANNE: I don't know how to dance. I don't know how to dance.
ADAL: Wait, wait, wait!
CHAYANNE: No, it's true!
ADAL: Let me understand this! If you go some place with your wife, with your friends, with other couples…..
CHAYANNE: I don't dance.
ADAL: And when they tell you, "come one Chayanne," you tell them, "no, I'll watch you from here."
CHAYANNE: I watch them dance. I sit there, very relaxed. I watch everybody dance. I like to watch people dance!
ADAL: Yes, but, when you go to a discoteque, and the word gets around; because when someone famous shows up in one these places, everyone knows it in less than a minute; and everyone waits for Chayanne to
stand up and begin dancing, then you keep them waiting!
CHAYANNE: I don't dance, truly! I just watch people dance. And if I do dance, you'll see me moving very, very slow.

ADAL: I can't believe it! And what does you wife say? "Dance!"
CHAYANNE: No, no, no!
ADAL: Because the women here in México, will tell you, "don't be a limp."
CHAYANNE: Oh, really? They insult you, besides!
ADAL: Well, it depends on what condition you are! Because they do tell you, "you're a limp." That's a
common phrase they use, "don't be a limp." What does you wife tell you? "Come on, we're here to dance,"
CHAYANNE: No, she doesn't say anything. She doesn't mind. She understands the other is part of my career.
I know everyone expects me to dance, but I remain seated. And like I said, if I dance, I dance slow, normal steps, because I don't know….
ADAL: I assume, I don't know if this is the general rule, that when people see a famous star, right away they
get very defensive and say, "of course, he's an expert and knows every step there is and…" And so,
you probably just sit down and don't want to appear as if you're showing off.
CHAYANNE: No, no. When I dance in the shows, those steps are choreographed! You can't go some place and start doing a choreographed show, so you try to keep a low profile, and you feel shyness, because you
know they're watching you and waiting for you to do something! But I don't do anything! I'm just going to
dance a little!
ADAL: "I'm going to the restroom!" You make a move and everyone is looking you're way! "I'm going to go peepee! I'm going to the restroom. I also go peepee!" No, some people think that celebrities don't do regular things!
CHAYANNE: No, I'm a human being. I relax and…..
ADAL: "I stand in front of the toilet and say go."
CHAYANNE: I relax when….I'm referring to….
ADAL: "I loosen the body and…."
CHAYANNE: I meant that I lead a normal life. I'm a completely normal person. I like to go out to eat.
I do
that a lot, go out to eat, when I have the opportunity. I'm very normal. What you see onstage, is someone
trying to make sure the audience is not disappointed, and that they see one is continually growing onstage.
Once I'm off stage, I continue being the same person, just like everyone else.
ADAL: And we've always appreciated that about you. We know you're a very simple person, because you've forgotten your roots, the nucleus of your family life and you friends….
CHAYANNE: Because that's reality!
ADAL: And that must be preserved, always.
CHAYANNE: The family! You continue being a normal person. You have your mother, your father, I have
a happy life. Life has truly given me many gifts. I'm extremely happy. I have a beautiful family. I don't
see them very often, that's one of the things I miss most, but, but, I lead a normal life!
ADAL: You carry them with you.
CHAYANNE: Yes, I carry them in my heart. It's just that I spent most of my time working, and traveling and doing shows and interviews, but I also love all that, it gives me great satisfaction!
ADAL: One thing without the other would not be complete!
CHAYANNE: Exactly!
ADAL: I know you adore….I mean, if you could, right now, close you eyes, and go flying…..
CHAYANNE: Without a doubt!

ADAL: Chayanne, your plans for the 100,000 copies sold of this album here, just in these few days, imagine what those figures are in other places. So, what's next? What's the next stage in this promotional tour? People don't exactly have a clear picture of what's involved. They hear that Chayanne is doing the promotion of his
new album, but what's next? What are you plans for tomorrow?
CHAYANNE: I leave tomorrow for Los Angeles, where I'll be for only one day. I have a presentation in an awards show. Then I'll leave for Argentina, and then Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico I'll be….
ADAL: There presentations are of one day only….
CHAYANNE: Most of them are one day only. I'll be spending two days in Puerto Rico, three days in Turkey.
I then go to New York and Chicago. Then I'll move on to Europe. I'll be in Europe from early February until
late August. What you do in a promotional tour when you first arrive in a country, is to make contact with all
the media. You make appearances to present your new material, to talk about what this material entails, you
then travel to Los Angeles to tape the video or to Miami for the completion of the song that you'll be using for
a first release, what we in the industry know as the first release, and then the version that actually goes out to
the public and that the people see in a video show in television. And then, there are also the rehearsals for a
new song you might be presenting during the promotional tour. I have to decide on the choreography, I have to…..
ADAL: It's exhausting!
CHAYANNE: It's really….
ADAL: It's rewarding, but exhausting none the less!
CHAYANNE: Yes, yes, but you must keep very focused, you work very hard. I mean, it's a job, it's your job. The fun part comes when you're onstage, but before you get onstage….you know how it is, with your program, the libretto, the….
ADAL: The monologue.
CHAYANNE: By the way, that was great preparation, the mirrors, the barre, the entire production of the skit.
ADAL: Yes, of course! We have a great production team here in OTRO ROLLO. All the departments….this
is incredible, every department of TELEVISA deserves recognition. The technical staff from stage 14, scenery, wardrobe, all the camera people, special effects, lighting, the musicians; besides all the people we don't get to
see here, who are in charge of audio, lighting, etc. It's incredible! More than one hundred people are needed
to put together one single program!
CHAYANNE: Yes. The public sees you in front of the camera or me on the cover of the cd I'm promoting,
but there's a group of people that you just mentioned, who work -the make-up person is agreeing with me, because she works very hard also- this group of people around us who is always supporting us and who deserves recognition and acknowledgment because they're part of you. They're part of that team that allows
you to be where you are.
ADAL: And even more so at the moment, because we are celebrating 50 years of television in México!
CHAYANNE: Is that so! Congratulations!
ADAL: Yes! And we ought to applaud the pioneers and all the people who make of television, this precious, enormous and grandiose industry! In México! Truly, this company is one of the most, if not, the most important company in all of Latin América, and one of the three most important in the world!

is a country who's given the world plenty in all levels of the industry! Cinematography, television, music! And
I'm not saying this only because I am here in México and we are talking about this, but there truly is a lot of
talent here and in all of Latin America, and this latin boom that has escalated throughout the world is something that couldn't be stopped. It is here. We are a culture. There are a lot of us. We are going to be the largest minority in the United States. It is something that is inevitable. We are hot!

To all the girls and guys interested in having one of Chayanne's s videos that has never been seen anywhere else, and that there is, as of now, no specific date of release here in América, we have a premiere, a wonderful surprise! First, let me tell you, get
your vcr's ready, but I want to ask you, Chayanne, before we release it for the first time, this video hasn't
been seen in América!
CHAYANNE: It hasn't been seen in América! The song was recorded for the European market as a continuation to the Atado A Tu Amor album. The video was recorded in Los Angeles, in the Los Angeles
desert, in a dried lake, in a temperature of 110 degrees!
ADAL: That's in Farenheit. What would that temperature be here?
CHAYANNE: I don't know.
ADAL: Approximately 45 degrees!
CHAYANNE: It was extremely hot! Extremely hot! This video was released in France, in Italy, and all of Europe, as well as a song from this, the SIMPLEMENTE album, which is the song YO TE AMO. There is
also a video of this song that you'll be able to see pretty soon. But the video of BOOM BOOM has been
held back until we're ready to release the song.
ADAL: I understand that this video we're going to see, was released via the internet in Argentina!
CHAYANNE: This video was released via the internet from France, and the song began to filter through, because the project was done exclusively for France, and it went from France to Spain….
ADAL: And a lot of people downloaded it and it became a number one song in Argentina!
CHAYANNE: It went to the number one spot in Argentina.
ADAL: They would download it!
CHAYANNE: They would download it and then the radio stations began playing it and it became very successful. But this entire project was meant only for France and it ended up in many other countries.
ADAL: Well, we are very happy to be the ones to release this video for the first time, here! It has never been shown anywhere, including the video channel, TeleHit; and Chayanne, and now that you're here, we'll release
it! Girls, guys! If you have your vcr's ready, this is a premiere, here in OTRO ROLLO. This is a video that
was made exclusively for the French market, and is going to be seen for the first time here. Shall we run the
video in its entirety?

BE SEEN SERIOUSLY EXPLAINING SOMETHING TO ADAL-

ADAL: Listen to this! I'm going to tell you an entire story Chayanne has just told me! I don't know if this was a mix-up caused by the recording company, or if it came from our main room, but the version of the video I was talking about; the one I mentioned was to be a premiere; that was released only in France, and that from
France went via the internet to Argentina and it reached number one in Argentina after being downloaded;
it was the Spanish version!
CHAYANNE: That's correct!
ADAL: It was not the English version! So, when the video begins, Chayanne screams: "NO!"
CHAYANNE: That's not the one!
ADAL: Chayanne says: "That's not the one! They're playing the English version!" So, I asked him what the problem was! The problem is, that this version, hasn't been seen anywhere in the world, with the exception
of a presentation you gave in Germany!
CHAYANNE: In Germany, yes!
ADAL: In other words, this is not the one we announced that was done for the French market! This was a
better premiere than what we expected!
CHAYANNE: This is what happened….and fortunately, I don't think they were able to see it very well…
ADAL: Explain to us what happened!
CHAYANNE: This is what happened. This song was recorded in Spanish, in the Los Angeles desert, as I mentioned before.
ADAL: In Spanish only!
CHAYANNE: The video was done in Spanish only! The song was recorded in English at a later date. I went
to the recording studio, and in fact, this is one of my first compositions (THE ENGLISH VERSION?) and we went into the studio, we recorded it, we edited for its release in Europe, this being my first song in English;
they then took the video….
ADAL: Which was recorded only in Spanish…..
CHAYANNE: Which was recorded only in Spanish, and they began to find the words in English that most resembled my lip movements in Spanish and then they added the English words to this video which was
recorded only in Spanish. This video was never recorded in English!
ADAL: So, to summarize this story, in the video we just watched, Chayanne is, at all times, singing in Spanish, they just replaced the Spanish words, with the English words.
CHAYANNE: Yes, and the lip synching…the English words….fit exactly my lip movement in Spanish. That's technology for you!
ADAL: So, in the video, you turn around and you're saying something in Spanish and the editors are able to…..how long does it take…..about a week?
CHAYANNE: No! Much, much longer than that! Just think, you have to go frame by frame, until you
complete the job.
