-FROM THE FURY OF SALSA TO SLOW RHYTHMS, CHAYANNE IS BECOMING THE NEW ABSOLUTE KING OF LATIN LOVE- -Like a hurricane full of strength and energy, Chayanne arrives in Spain ready to raze everything in his path with his new, and more emblematic, themes and his impossible choreographies.- -CHAYANNE: THE MOST AWAITED TOUR- Chayanne is back. Since his hit, TORERO, demolished everything in its path two summers ago, leaving behind nights full of heat and dance throughout the Spanish geography, the Puerto Rican idol hadnt come to Spain to perform. But the waiting is over. Chayanne has stopped being a TORERO to be SINCERO the title of his new album and tour- with all his heart and desire. The Latin idol will again bring to the stage his acrobatics let the imitators like David Bisbal go away- and his contagious pop with a Latin touch. The performances begin July 21 in La Coruña and will not cease until September 18 with a farewell concert in Seville. Its a fact...with Chayanne here, the heat returns. Its the best way of fighting against the temperatures of over 40 degrees we are experiencing and suffering. Its neither a medical nor a weather prediction -and besides, it could be a contradiction when any of his themes is capable of raising the billirubine or blood pressure- but, against the heat .color, and against perspiration fresh air from the Caribbean. Plenty of tours will pass through Spain this summer in line are David Bisbal, Estopa, Café Quijano, and Alejandro Sanz, among the multitudinous tours- but Chayannes has the choreography of the first one, the strength and charisma of the second ones, the ethnic flavor of the third ones, and the intimacy in the ballads of the last one. No one is more complete than Chayanne. STRENGTH AND CHARISMA Chayannes real name is Elmer Figueroa Arce and he was born in June of 1968, so hes already 36 years-old, but he carries them well, and although in his country hes been a star since childhood, when he was part of the group, Los Chicos and then began a solo career, it wasnt until his early thirties that his fame has reached every corner of the world. What can be said about his popularity in Spain today? If there is a Latin description for pop, he is it -with permission from Ricky Martin, now that Luis Miguel alternates boleros with romantic rock- although in the United States he isnt far behind. CHAMELEONIC In the selected group of the Latin star system in Hollywood and in the movie industry, Chayanne is in the leading squad. Hes not in the first division like Jennifer López or Salma Hayek, but he managed very well starring next to Vanessa Williams in Dance With Me, a movie that is considered the Latin West Side Story and the best salsa rhythm musical of the 90s. That movie showed Chayannes great interpretative nature, not so much in his dramatic facet although in the past he acted in several television series (he appeared in two episodes of Ally McBeal in the role of Latin Lover), but in his chameleonic physical personality. Chayanne is a dancing god and his choreographies, daring and impossible for most dancers, require enormous skills. It is said that his casting tests are extremely tough. In his 2004 SINCERO tour, Chayanne offers a hybrid between his last two releases. On one side, his album SINCERO (2003), his most worthwhile and open to new styles album. Its based on Latin rhythms but it also points to half tempos that help make the tour feel like a roller coaster of emotions. On the other side, this tour is based on the repertoire of the greatest hits he edited in 2002, which gave way to a tour he took through the largest stadiums in Spain and which is remembered as a sort of transplanted universe of impossible pirouettes and spins taken from The Matrix and onto the stage. What songs can we expect to hear? All of them! From SALOME to COMPLETAMENTE ENAMORADOS that hit that has become one of his great classics thanks to a perfume ad that used it as a soundtrack. That and more will be heard, and with the spectacular grandeur that is required from such a grand tour, in every sense. The stage is huge, and besides, he comes supported by a large world tour that in the last months has taken him through Latin America and the United States, a country, this last one, where Chayanne has managed to carve his share of fame. Its not easy for a Latin artist to perform on stages as large and prestigious as the Madison Square Garden in New York, the Miami Arena or the Rosemont Theatre in Chicago, but all this is within the reach of this idol of masses. SPECTACULAR TOUR Whats so special about his tour? Plenty. The figures are enough to make you dizzy and cause you to faint: ten musicians onstage, four dancers, back-up singers who compliment the vocal fire of our main star, and an enormous stage setting which includes 600,000 watts of sound and giant screens that allow you to follow the evolution of his fabulous jumps and dance moves if you havent managed to gain access to the first row to see him from a distance of only two meters. After all this, what else can you ask for? Only that Chayanne arrives in good shape, with a tuned voice, and that the musicians and dancers perform at their best level. If this is the case, which will be, because Chayanne can be everything, we will witness one of the most spectacular shows of the summer of 2004. Buy your admission ticket now!
ATADO A TU AMOR This is the boom album. Until then, Chayanne was an idol in Latin America and fought his way into new markets, and although it cost him, he did it in a big style. ATADO A TU AMOR, a mix of salsa and romance, opened Spains doors for him. The key? The key is called SALOME. GRANDES EXITOS This collection covers the hits from the early 90s to the moment of his apparition worldwide, so its a perfect way to come in contact with the universe Chayanne without having to search for all his albums. It includes all the hits and all the clues to his success. Ideal as an initiation. SINCERO Chayannes last album, like its title suggests, but also a step forward towards the consolidation of a new public more willing to understand the slow rhythms and to put aside the salsa fury for special occasions. Little by little, he nears his objective: to be the king of Latin love. PRIVATELY He was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, on June 28, 1968, therefore, hes a Cancer. His hobbies He likes to read, play tennis and ride motorcycles. He would leave everything for his loved ones. He says his wife and children are the motor that runs his life and that hed be willing to leave his career in an instant to help any member of his family. |
